It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to our college website. I hope that as you browse the pages, you gain a sense of our school community and appreciate the richness and diversity of the opportunities our pupils experience in the college.

St. Paul’s is a school at the heart of the local community. Its size and atmosphere make it a wonderful place for children to develop and grow in confidence and ability. The relationships between teachers and pupils are excellent and the supportive yet challenging ethos makes the school a leader in the local community. Our recent ETI Inspection noted:

The achievements and standards of the pupils in the school are
very good. The school is meeting very effectively the educational
and pastoral needs of the pupils; and has demonstrated its
capacity for self-improvement.

(ETI Report, Sept 2013)

Life in St. Paul’s, however, is not simply about academic success. Pupils are encouraged to develop life skills and friendships through their participation in a wide range of extra-curricular activities and competitions. St. Paul’s is an inclusive school and we wholeheartedly welcome pupils from all backgrounds and abilities. We want to help each and every one of the children in our care to find their talent and exploit their ability to the full. Every child in the school is an individual and we help them to take ownership of their learning through target setting and the process of self- evaluation. Young people in St. Paul’s are interested in education and interested in each other. The pastoral care and positive discipline system within the school work together to ensure that students feel happy, safe and secure in the college.

The effective pastoral provision, characterised by excellent
relationships and genuine care among all members of the
school community supports the pupils’ learning very well.

(ETI Report, Sept 2013)

Faith life is extremely important in St. Paul’s. As a Catholic school, we are committed to developing and extending the faith life of the children in our care. We positively promote Catholic values and ensure through the delivery of Religious Education, assemblies and liturgical services that pupils recognise the importance of their faith and their responsibility to the parish and wider community.

St. Paul’s is well equipped to deliver a high quality educational experience for all pupils, whatever their talents or abilities. The words, “Every School a Good School”, certainly resonate and ring true in the case of our college. According to the ETI, St. Paul’s is not just a good school it is “a very good school” indeed. As a school our mission statement, “Caring, Co-operating and Challenging”, is at the heart of everything we do.
